Apply Control Measures to a Low Risk, Low Impact Activity with Road Reserve

This (2-week) Online Skill Standard (SS40231) and Micro-Credential (MC5148) – Apply Control Measures to a Low Risk, Low Impact Activity with Road Reserve workshop provides students with the knowledge and practical skills required to prepare for and apply appropriate control measures when carrying out a low risk, low impact activity within the road reserve

Qualification:

This flexible ONLINE (Theory Only) option allows learners to complete the theory component in their own time over a two-week period.

On successful completion of all components “Achieved” for Skill Standard 40231, the Assessor will lodge your credits to be added to your NZQA record of learning (Rol).

Note: MC-5148 – Apply Safe Work Practices can be obtained for this level, refer to website enrolment option (instead of Skill Standard 40231 only)

Learning Outcomes:

At the end of this workshop the participant will be able to:

  • Identify and record activity and environment context within the road reserve
  • Confirm the content of a risk assessment with relevant stakeholders
  • Complete pre-site planning and site checks in line with organisational requirements
  • Establish trigger points and safe access/escape routes
  • Apply and maintain control measures in line with the Traffic Management Plan (TMP) and Risk Assessment
  • Complete accurate on-site records and close-out documentation

These outcomes align directly with the learning outcomes and assessment criteria of Skills Standard 40231 and Micro-Credential 5148

Students will develop the ability to:

  • Identify and record activity and environment context
  • Participate in and confirm risk assessments with relevant stakeholders
  • Complete pre-site planning and site checks
  • Establish trigger points and safe access/escape routes
  • Apply and maintain control measures in line with the Traffic Management Plan (TMP)
  • Complete required on-site documentation

This course combines structured theory learning with practical, work-based or simulated assessment task

Practical Component (Separately charged to Theory):

Conducted in a live workplace or simulated low risk, low impact road reserve environment where students:

  • Complete a pre-site inspection
  • Review and action risk assessment revisions
  • Establish trigger points and safe routes
  • Deliver a stakeholder / site briefing
  • Install and maintain control measures
  • Complete site removal and close-out documentation

Required to complete your enrolment to any programme:

Compulsory: National Student Number: Not Supplied – No Qualification Accreditation

You will be required to complete an NZQA enrolment form as the first step of your enrolment to any programme, and would require the following information on hand:

    • Head and Shoulder Photo (blank background) used for any printed quals cards
    • Proof of Identification (Passport, Birth Certificate) – Driver License not a form of ID
    • National Student Number (NSN#) – Visit The New Zealand Qualifications Authority – NZQA OR
    • Casual dress code (NO WORK BOOTS)
    • Full PPE Gear, including Rain wear, if completing any practical requirements (workplace or simulated)
    • Bring reading spectacles if required (Tablet / Chromebook use).
    • Water Bottle to hydrate whilst conducting practical

This course is ideal for:

  • Workers operating within the road reserve whose primary role is not TTM
  • Civil, Infrastructure, Utilities, and Maintenance personnel
  • Contractors carrying out low impact roadside activities
  • Supervisors responsible for low-risk work within a TTM zone
  • Organisations wanting to ensure compliance with TMP and PCBU obligations

Entry Requirements:

There are no formal NZQA prerequisites, however students should:

  • Be able to read, write, and understand basic English instructions
  • Be familiar with general workplace safety rules and expectations
  • Be willing and able to follow safety directions in a live or simulated environment

  • Take note of possible Event Signs 3pm limit – TMA takes no liability if not adhere to by attendees.

  • Theory Workshop Fee (3-4-hours)
  • Unit Standard 31957 cost @ $6.50 x 3 Credits = $19.50 + GST included (Connexis Fee)
  • $30.00 + GST per Unit Standard Booklet Pack (Connexis Fee)
  • Sign off by NZQA approved Assessor for Unit Standard 31957
  • Lunch will be provided for face-to-face one-day (or more) workshops extending beyond lunch break only, not short workshops (1/2 day or less)

Payment Agreement:

  • A course fee will become payable upon securing the booking online.
  • All fees are due 48-hours prior to workshop attendance, unless otherwise agreed by TMA Management. Refer to terms and conditions.

  • Overdue accounts will be referred to Debt Collection services, and all associated fees will be liable by student/company making the booking.
  • Xero invoice will be sent on confirmation of booking or can pay via Credit Card / Debit / Bank Transfer or Stipe.
  • Payment options will be available Online or Xero Invoice upon making your booking.
