The purpose of this Micro-Credential 5560 is to recognise the skills required to identify and use safe work practices to assist with the installation, operation, maintenance, and uplift of temporary traffic management (TTM) within the road reserve

Qualification:

This TMA owned Micro-Credential 5560 is to recognise the skills required to identify and use safe work practices to assist with the installation, operation, maintenance, and uplift of temporary traffic management (TTM) within the road reserve.

This two workshop combine structured classroom learning with practical assessment activities. A facilitator/assessor will be present throughout the day to guide and support you during both the learning and assessment components.

On successful completion of all components “Achieved” for MC5560, the Assessor will lodge your credits to be added to your NZQA record of learning (RoL).

Learning Outcomes:

Delivered face-to face covering safe work principles, hazard identification, communication procedures, and legislative requirements, on successful completion of this component, students will be able to:

  • Identify workplace safety methods and how they relate to TTM
  • Assist with temporary traffic management (TTM) activities within the road reserve
  • Use effective communication methods
  • Identify, record or report common hazards and risks in a workplace

This Micro-Credential 5560 builds upon individual unit/skills standards:

  • Skills Standard 40233 – Assist with temporary traffic management within the road reserve Level: 3 Credits: 5
  • Unit Standard 17593 – Apply safe work practices in the workplace Level: 2 Credits: 4

  • Develop an understanding of the requirements, policies, procedures, and methodologies that underpin temporary traffic management (TTM) operations
  • Learners will gain knowledge of hazard identification systems, risk assessment processes, and communication methods used to maintain health and safety within the TTM workplace.

This course combines structured theory learning with practical, work-based or simulated assessment task

Practical Component:

Conducted in a live workplace or simulated low risk TTM environment, provided that an approved TMP is in place and student can demonstrate practical competency:

  • Attending toolbox or pre-start meetings
  • Reviewing the Traffic Management Plan (TMP
  • Conducting PPE and equipment checks
  • Assisting with installation of signs and devices
  • Monitoring site conditions
  • Communicating with the TTM crew and supervisor
  • Managing hazards and unsafe practices
  • Assisting with pack-down and uplift
  • Communicate clearly with your team
  • Completing required documentation
  • Use safe work practices to complete activities/tasks
  • Complete a series of practical tasks that reflect real worksite activities
  • Confirm your understanding and decision-making in completing tasks

Required to complete your enrolment to any programme:

Compulsory: National Student Number: Not Supplied – No Qualification Accreditation

You will be required to complete an NZQA enrolment form as the first step of your enrolment to any programme, and would require the following information on hand:

    • Head and Shoulder Photo (blank background) used for any printed quals cards
    • Proof of Identification (Passport, Birth Certificate) – Driver License not a form of ID
    • National Student Number (NSN#) – Visit The New Zealand Qualifications Authority – NZQA OR
    • Casual dress code (NO WORK BOOTS)
    • Full PPE Gear, including Rain wear, if completing any practical requirements (workplace or simulated)
    • Bring reading spectacles if required (Tablet / Chromebook use).
    • Water Bottle to hydrate whilst conducting practical

  • Employees or contractors requiring evidence of safe work competency
  • Organisatins wanting to reinforce compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015
  • Anyone preparing for work in construction, infrastructure, civil works, or similar environments
  • Students progressing into Level 3 and Level 4 TTM qualifications

Entry Requirements:

There are no formal NZQA prerequisites, however students should:

  • Be able to read, write, and understand basic English instructions
  • Be familiar with general workplace safety rules and expectations
  • Be willing and able to follow safety directions in a live or simulated environment

  • Theory Workshop Fee and access to LMS system
  • Skill Standard 40233 cost @ $6.50 x 5 Credits = $32.50 + GST included
  • $30.00 + GST per Unit Standard Booklet Pack (Hardcopy or LMS)
  • Sign off by NZQA approved Assessor for Skill Standard 40231
  • Lunch will be provided for face-to-face one-day (or more) workshops extending beyond lunch break only, not short workshops (1/2 day or less)

  • Overdue accounts will be referred to Debt Collection services, and all associated fees will be liable by student/company making the booking.
