At TM Academy Ltd, we are committed to maintaining high standards of training, assessment, and quality assurance across all our programmes. To support this, we engage experienced TM Academy and Industry professionals as Verifiers, Assessors, and Moderators.

Understanding the Roles
While all three roles contribute to quality assurance, each has a distinct function within the training and assessment lifecycle:

TMA I Workplace Trainers/Facilitators Role and Responsibilities
A Workplace Trainer / Facilitator confirms that a learner has demonstrated skills and knowledge in a real work environment meeting programme outcomes
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver structured training aligned to programme and industry requirements
- Provide subject matter expertise (SME) in the area being delivered
- Prepare students for assessment activities
- Support students development and knowledge through coaching, guidance, and feedback
Trainer Requirements
- Lodge your “expression of interest” through TM Academy Verifier/Assessor Programme
- Attend the (1/2-day) Facilitator workshop with TM Academy
- Attend an annual Refresher Assessor forum held by TMA to remain a current approved Assessor
- Hold (or be working towards) a Level 4 Certificate in Adult Education
- Be competent in the subject matter (SME)
- Be approved by TM Academy (PTE)
- Meet TMA trainer/facilitator approval requirements where relevant
- Use approved trainer materials and resources
- Participate in moderation activities when required
TMA I Workplace Evidence Verifier Role and Responsibilities
A Workplace Evidence Verifier confirms that a learner has demonstrated skills and knowledge in a real work environment.
This role supports workplace-based assessment but does not make assessment decisions.
Who Can Be a Verifier?
- Supervisor
- Site Manager
- Experienced colleague
Key Responsibilities
- Observe the learner performing workplace tasks
- Confirm the authenticity of evidence collected
- Complete and sign verification documentation
- Ensure tasks meet workplace and industry expectations
Important Distinction

👉 The Assessor makes the final competency decision
Verifier Requirements
- Lodge your “expression of interest” through TM Academy Verifier/Assessor Portal
- Attend (1/2 day) Verifier workshop with TM Academy
- Relevant industry experience and competence
- Experienced in the tasks being verified
- Approved by TM Academy (PTE)
- Meet TMA verifier approval requirements where relevant
- Use approved assessment materials and resources
- participate in moderation activities when required
TMA I Workplace Assessor Role and Responsibilities
The Assessor is the qualified professional responsible for evaluating a learner’s competence against unit standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct assessments
- Review evidence provided by the students
- Observe workplace performance (where required)
- Compare evidence against unit standard criteria
- Make the final assessment decision (Competent / Not Yet Competent)
- Provide clear, constructive feedback to the students
Assessor Requirements
To be recognised by TM Academy, an Assessor must:
- Lodge your “expression of interest” through TM Academy Assessor Programme
- Attend the (1-day) Assessor workshop with TM Academy
- Attend an annual Refresher Assessor forum held by TMA to remain a current approved Assessor
- Be competent in the subject area (relevant experience and/or qualifications)
- Be approved by TM Academy (PTE)
- Hold a recognised assessment qualification (e.g. Unit Standard 4098 or equivalent)
- Meet TMA assessor approval requirements where relevant
- Use approved assessment materials and resources
- Participate in moderation activities when required
TMA Moderator Role and Responsibilities
A Moderator oversees the overall quality and consistency of assessment materials and decisions across the organisation.
Key responsibilities:
- Review assessment tools before and after use (pre- and post-moderation)
- Ensure assessments align with national standards
- Support continuous improvement of assessment systems
- Provide formal moderation reports and recommendations
Focus:

Types of Moderation
- Internal Moderation – conducted within TM Academy
- External Moderation – conducted by the relevant Standard Setting Body
